I realized many years ago while horseback riding in the Jemez Mountains with Star Sando that the art and artifacts of a people are a reflection of the people and their surroundings. Selling pottery, moccasins, kachinas, drums, rugs, bows, and fetishes is nothing without the people who make them, and more importantly – live by them.

By traveling to the southwest, or Alaska, or any Native Reserve to buy crafts I am always reminded of the traditions that support the art. At the Little Bull I have, year after year raise the level of art and artifacts as relationships with the makers has become more substantial. The beautiful offerings for sale in the shop are often accompanied by the stories and teaching of the crafts person.

Art is like language – true understanding and replication of art and crafts is only achieved through an education about the people and their culture. Hand crafts by Lance Many Crow, Hilda Whitegoat, Suzie Charlie, Derrick Kamaase, Lorraine Chinana, Larry David, Francis Largo and many more. Please inquire for more information or special requests.
